Walks along the Nile and three rivers framing the U.S.
from east to west: the Delaware, Mississippi and Sacramento.
Civilizations grew around river valleys throughout
the world, and now rivers and riparian zones are under extreme
environmental threat. Nilometers, constructed adjacent
to the Nile are focal points for my walks in Egypt.
For over five thousand years, nilometers have been used for
gauging the level of the water in the Nile River "providing the longest
written records for any hydrological phenomenon."
