Taka Iimura
Takahiko Iimura (1937-2022) was a pioneer artist of Japanese film, since 1960, and video, since in 1970. Internationally recognized for his independently produced experimental works and installations, he was commissioned by New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to produce a film: Ma: Space/Time in the Garden of Ryoan-ji.
The following video excerpts are from a work-in-progress. Taka refers to modes of communication in the first sequence, followed by segments in Europe, Brazil, Japan and the U.S. that include places where we were invited to exhibit: Construction in Process, Lodz, Poland (1990), Rio Cine Festival (1997). The meetings in Japan, Hawaii and New York were primarily for work on our project, East/West: space-time and the World-Wide-Web (2002-16).
